For their 4th release of 2019, Mella Dee’s Warehouse Music share Dance System’s ‘Can’t Stop EP’, due for release November 8th. Founded by the UK producer and DJ as a response to some of his earliest sonic influences, the Warehouse Music imprint offers a new take on the impactful and varied sounds of local and global warehouse parties, a notion clearly evident on this latest release.
An influential presence in electronic music for more than a decade, London-based James Connolly AKA L-Vis 1990 has through his own label Night Slugs and diverse productions, exemplified the spirit and ingenuity of the genre. Here, under his Dance System alias, he returns once again to his playful House moniker to deliver a collection of four typically dynamic and lively club cuts.
In characteristic fashion, features of old and new are dextrously distilled then reimagined to create an EP which is at once referential and distinctly original. Opener ‘Can’t Stop (Lovin U)’ sees evocative vocal hook and mesmeric off-kilter synth pattern seamlessly shift over rolling bass, whilst on ‘Comin At Cha’, chopped and filtered samples unfold energetically over punchy percussion to climactic effect. On the flip side, the dancing hats and stabs of ‘Touch It’ give way to the sublimely infectious ‘Can U Feel It’, which with rich bouncing bassline, rounds off the record.
