Carlo Ruetz has built a strong reputation for his particular brand of precision tool techno. The Rostock-born producer and DJ has been making waves since taking the Beatport minimal techno charts by storm and turning the head of tastemaker Richie Hawtin. Welcoming him back to Oliver Huntemann’s killer Senso Sounds, ‘Hypersonic’ is a four track EP of rare quality. ‘Don’t Know’ kicks it off, a bruising, powerful cut that combines a tough-as-nails rhythm section with bubbling, acidic vibes. EP title track ‘Hypersonic’ ups the ante even more – driving drums provide the bedrock for expressive percussion and a devastating bass pulse. ‘Simultan’ continues the party – a tech-house monster with filthy sub bass waves and firing rhythm track. The digital bonus track ‘Rover’ is a stripped down burner of a track with laser cut grooves and thick, atmospheric synth stabs that echo around the audio field.
